Negeri Selangor will go bankrupt?

SHAH ALAM - Selangor people do not have to worry about the allegations Opposition leader, Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo that this country will be bankrupt.

Chief Ministry, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the statement was in reaction to Dr Khir individuals who have never studied accounting and revenue budget for the budget issue is a process rather than conclusions.

He said the budget will be evaluated and reviewed from time to time and not necessarily accurate.

"The deficit is said to have been seen and shown June this year and the surplus is increasing meaning there is no deficit.

"We have shown despite the deficit in December but in June this year we increased state reserves to RM285 million and it was the highest since five years ago," he said at a news conference after the Council of State (DUN), yesterday.

Abdul Khalid said that, if Dr Khir worried Selangor will become bankrupt, the Legislative Assembly (Assembly) Sungai Panjang that should be more worried about the budget submission said.

Abdul Khalid said Dr Khir should review the budget states under Barisan Nasional administration in advance to ensure that there is a balanced budget.

In another development, Abdul Khalid said the State Government will support the construction of the tower 100 levels of RM5 billion announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2011 Budget recently while it was not debated.

According to him, there was confusion regarding his opinion on the establishment and implementation of the project.

"I have stated, as a joint effort to develop Malaysia's Selangor State Government agreed to jointly plan and implement development of the Greater Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur (Klang Valley).

"Not that I support the project but I support the effort to develop the Greater Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley," he said

He said the State Government considers that the project should be assessed whether it is a priority and more important than providing facilities for the convenience of the people in Selangor and Federal Territory.

He said, however, the overall concept to make the Klang Valley population as a catalyst of development should be supported because it is good for the State and nation.

"But there should be a debate for a project and Selangor will monitor who will conduct the project and the use of funds.

"We must ensure that every dollar spent is used effectively for the project without any leakage.

According to him, PNB (PNB) to explain the source of funding for the project and how it can benefit the economic, social and infrastructure to the people.
